Apsidal motion and photometric elements of the eccentric eclipsing binary KL CMa The Hipparcos and ASAS light curves of the recently discovered eccentricorbit binary KL CMa were analyzed by using the Wilson Devinney program. The analysis of the light curves and all available minimum times haverevealed that the system is detached, with the orbital eccentricity e =0.131 ± 0.007, the rate of change of the longitude of periastron??=0.037±0.014°cycle, corresponding toan apsidal motion period of U = 46.9 ± 17.7 yr. The apsidalmotion of the system has been confirmed by the significant difference onthe longitude of the periastron (?) obtained from two light curves(Hipparcos and ASAS) in two different epochs. Preliminary absoluteparameters of the components have been computed taking into account theresult of light curves analysis.
| A new catalogue of eclipsing binary stars with eccentric orbits A new catalogue of eclipsing binary stars with eccentric orbits ispresented. The catalogue lists the physical parameters (includingapsidal motion parameters) of 124 eclipsing binaries with eccentricorbits. In addition, the catalogue also contains a list of 150 candidatesystems, about which not much is known at present.Full version of the catalogue is available online (see the SupplementaryMaterial section at the end of this paper) and in electronic form at theCDS via http://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/MNRAS/(vol)/ (page)E-mail: ibulut@comu.edu.tr
| A catalogue of eclipsing variables A new catalogue of 6330 eclipsing variable stars is presented. Thecatalogue was developed from the General Catalogue of Variable Stars(GCVS) and its textual remarks by including recently publishedinformation about classification of 843 systems and making correspondingcorrections of GCVS data. The catalogue1 represents thelargest list of eclipsing binaries classified from observations.
| Hipparcos Eclipsing Binaries Showing Apsidal Motion II. Ten eclipsing binaries with eccentric orbits are found to displayapsidal motion by combining Hipparcos, ASAS-3 and NSVS data.
| The 74th Special Name-list of Variable Stars We present the Name-list introducing GCVS names for 3153 variable starsdiscovered by the Hipparcos mission.
| Walraven photometry of nearby southern OB associations Homogeneous Walraven (VBLUW) photometry is presented for 5260 stars inthe regions of five nearby southern OB associations: Scorpio Centaurus(Sco OB2), Orion OB1, Canis Major OB1, Monoceros OB1, and Scutum OB2.Derived V and (B - V) in the Johnson system are included.
| Hyades and Sirius supercluster members brighter than magnitude (V) 7.1. II - Right ascension six to twelve hours The present star sample is contained in the Bright Star Catalogue andits Supplement, augmented with a further supplement of 788 stars foundduring various observing programs over the past 40 years. Accurate,four-color and H-beta, or (RI), photometry is available for most of thesupercluster members. The criteria for membership are the comparisons ofthe proper motion, radial velocity, and luminosity obtained from thesupercluster parameters with the observed motions and the luminosityderived from the photometric parameters. New proper motions, based onall available catalogs, have been derived for the additional 788 starsdiscussed here, as well as all supercluster members.
| A study of visual double stars with early type primaries. IV Astrophysical data Astrophysical parameters (MK class, color excess, absolute magnitude, distance, effective temperature, mass, and age) are derived fromcalibrations of the uvby-beta indices for the members of 253 doublestars with O or B type primaries and faint secondaries. The photometricspectral classification is compared to the MK classes, and the agreementis very good. The derived data together with spectroscopic and JHKL dataare used for deciding which pairs are likely to be physical and whichare optical, and it is shown that 98 (34 percent) of the secondaries arelikely to be members of physical systems. For 90 percent of the physicalpairs the projected separation between the components is less than25,000 AU. A majority of the physical secondaries are late-type stars, and 50 percent of them are contracting towards the zero-agemain-sequence. Also presented are new uvby-beta data for 43 secondariesand a computer program for determining astrophysical parameters fromuvby-beta data.

| A study of visual double stars with early type primaries. I - Spectroscopic results Attention is given to spectral peculiarities found in data on thespectral classes of 486 stars in 254 visual doublet or multiplet systemswith O or B type primaries, in order to isolate a group of very youngstars that may serve for the study of early stellar evolutioncharacteristics. It is noted that the material contains a substantialfraction of secondaries that are likely to be physical, and that severalof these may be in the premain-sequence phase of stellar evolution, orhave reached the zero-age main sequence.
