Rotational velocities of A-type stars in the northern hemisphere. II. Measurement of v sin i
This work is the second part of the set of measurements of v sin i forA-type stars, begun by Royer et al. (\cite{Ror_02a}). Spectra of 249 B8to F2-type stars brighter than V=7 have been collected at Observatoirede Haute-Provence (OHP). Fourier transforms of several line profiles inthe range 4200-4600 Å are used to derive v sin i from thefrequency of the first zero. Statistical analysis of the sampleindicates that measurement error mainly depends on v sin i and thisrelative error of the rotational velocity is found to be about 5% onaverage. The systematic shift with respect to standard values fromSlettebak et al. (\cite{Slk_75}), previously found in the first paper,is here confirmed. Comparisons with data from the literature agree withour findings: v sin i values from Slettebak et al. are underestimatedand the relation between both scales follows a linear law ensuremath vsin inew = 1.03 v sin iold+7.7. Finally, thesedata are combined with those from the previous paper (Royer et al.\cite{Ror_02a}), together with the catalogue of Abt & Morrell(\cite{AbtMol95}). The resulting sample includes some 2150 stars withhomogenized rotational velocities. Based on observations made atObservatoire de Haute Provence (CNRS), France. Hot Inner Disks that Appear and Disappear around Rapidly Rotating A-Type Dwarfs
At any one time, approximately one-quarter of the most rapidly rotatingnormal A-type dwarfs (V sin i >= 200 km s-1) show shell lines of TiII in the near-ultraviolet. Our observations during 22 years show thatthe lines appear and disappear on timescales of decades but do notdisplay significant changes within 1 year. This implies that they arenot remnants of the star formation but rather are probably caused bysporadic mass-loss events. A working hypothesis is that all A-type starsthat are rotating near their limits have these shells, but for onlyone-quarter of the time. Because these lines do not appear in stars withsmaller sin i, the shells must be disks. These are hot inner disks thatmay or may not be related to the cool outer disks seen by Smith andTerrile around beta Pic or through infrared excesses around Vega andother A-type dwarfs. The similar, limited line widths indicate that thedisks are ~7 R* above the stellar surfaces.

The photoelectric astrolabe catalogue of Yunnan Observatory (YPAC).
The positions of 53 FK5, 70 FK5 Extension and 486 GC stars are given forthe equator and equinox J2000.0 and for the mean observation epoch ofeach star. They are determined with the photoelectric astrolabe ofYunnan Observatory. The internal mean errors in right ascension anddeclination are +/- 0.046" and +/- 0.059", respectively. The meanobservation epoch is 1989.51.

UvbyHbeta_ photometry of main sequence A type stars.
We present Stroemgren uvby and Hbeta_ photometry for a set of575 northern main sequence A type stars, most of them belonging to theHipparcos Input Catalogue, with V from 5mag to 10mag and with knownradial velocities. These observations enlarge the catalogue we began tocompile some years ago to more than 1500 stars. Our catalogue includeskinematic and astrophysical data for each star. Our future goal is toperform an accurate analysis of the kinematical behaviour of these starsin the solar neighbourhood.

We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star,when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

An uvby-beta catalogue of F0-K0 supergiant stars brighter than V = 6.5
Photoelectric uvby-beta photometry is reported for 111 F0-K0 supergiantstars which are brighter than V = 6.5 mag and located betweendeclination of -15 and +61 deg. A comparison with previous observationsis made. A few stars which are suspected to present light variations arementioned.

Six centimetre VLA radio survey of compact planetary nebulae
The results are presented of a radio continuum survey of 174 objectsclassified as possible or true planetary nebulae (Acker et al, 1983).Intensity contour plots, radio flux densities at 5 GHz, diameters, andaccurate positions are presented for the detected objects. Many of thedetected sources have high radio surface brightness temperaturesindicative of young planetary nebulae. Also, for each of the programsources, the IRAS Point Source Catalog is used to extract the fourphotometric flux densities and derive the total infrared flux, a dusttemperature, and the infrared excess.

H-beta photometry for UVBY standard stars
Observational campaigns from 1984 to 1986 were made using uvby and betaphotometric systems to monitor a selected sample of late-type variablestars. The beta results are presented here for the 38 uvby standardsthat are not beta standard. A description of the observationaltechniques, reduction procedures, and data accuracy are reported. Thebeta computed values are plotted against the Stroemgren b-y, m1, and c1indices.

A UVBY beta survey of northern-hemisphere active binaries. I - The observations
A recent detailed calibration of the uvby photometric system forlate-type stars has opened the possibility of studying photometriceffects of stellar activity in the RS CVn group of binaries. A uvby betaphotometric study of 72 northern-hemisphere binary systems with activechromospheres has been carried out at the Roque de los MuchachosObservatory (La Palma, Canary Islands) with a People's photometerattached to the JKT 1.0 m telescope. The standarized colors and Vmagnitudes are presented as a function of the orbital phase, along withan indication of their accuracy. A detailed discussion of atmosphericextinction, characteristics of the photometric system, andtransformation coefficients is also included.

UV photometric data on standard A, F and AM stars observed by S2/68
Data derived from the stellar UV fluxes of the S2/68 experiment andanalyzed and interpreted by Van't Veer et al. (1980) are presented.There are two tables of photometric data. One lists all standard stars,without exception, belonging to the intersection of the following threecatalogs: (1) the Thompson et al. (1978) catalog of S2/68 fluxes; (2)the PMR catalog (Philip et al., 1976), which is an analysis of theHauck-Mermilliod catalog (1975) of homogeneous four color data; and (3)the Crawford and Barnes (1970) list of standard stars for uvbyphotometry. The other table lists all the Am stars, without exception,belonging to the intersection of the following three catalogs: (1)Thompson et al. (1978); (2) PMR (1976); and (3) the Hauck (1973) catalogof the Am stars.

Ground-based observations of some stars classified in the satellite ultraviolet with spectral particularities
Spectral classifications based on 80 A/mm plates were obtained for 48stars classified in the UV in order to examine existing discrepancies.Although reclassification generally improves the agreement, there remainseveral cases of significant disagreements.

Photoelectric H-alpha line photometry of early-type stars
A total of 293 bright stars of spectral types O, B, A, F and ofluminosity classes I through V have been measured with a photoelectricphotometer equipped with two interference filters of 30-A bandwidth, onecentered on H-alpha and the other at 6622 A. A correction term has beenallowed for the response of the photometric system and for the continuumenergy distribution in the two spectral regions considered. Theresulting photometric alpha indices of H-alpha line strength arecompared with previous H-alpha, H-beta, and H-gamma photometricmeasures, H-alpha equivalent widths, the MK spectral type, /u-b/, /c1/,and b-y indices of the uvby photometric system. The results emphasizethe advantage of using H-alpha line photometry to discriminate betweenemission-line effects and luminosity effects in early-type stars and todetect emission-line variability.

Catalogue of early-type stars measured in a narrow-band photometric system
A compilation of the photoelectric measurements in the Barbier-Morguleffsystem is presented. The catalogue includes data for 773 stars ofspectral type 08 to F6. 706 stars have been measured at least twice.
