 | | Helium in the atmospheres of binary stars A uniform summary of the helium content in the atmospheres of 25 brightcomponents of binary systems is obtained using model atmospheres. On theaverage the He content in binary stars is higher than normal even forcomponents which lie near the main sequence. On the Hertzsprung-Russelldiagram these components are located farther from the zero-age line onthe average than stars with a normal He content.
